Small Talk: HANNAH GEORGAS

Who are you and what do you do:
My name is Hannah Georgas and I’m a recording artist from Vancouver, BC

Current obsessions:
Really great coffee, Frank Ocean’s record channel ORANGE

A song or a record that will always put you in a good mood, without fail:
On Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz

Tell us about an album or artist you think is really under-appreciated, and why they are deserving of more praise:
My good friend Lyn Heinemann has a band based out of Vancouver, BC called Drawn Ship. She’s put out 2 records and they are both fantastic. Incredible songwriting and really interesting production. Her music is incredible and deserves more love!! Check her out. http://drawnship.ca

Most played track on your iTunes:
Pyramids by Frank Ocean

Most cherished musical object:
My dad’s keyboard he gave me

Proudest moment:
This past summer I finally learned how to build a fire. I know I’m pretty late in the game but better late than never.

Most vulnerable moment:
I opened for a really great band called City and Colour awhile back and it was the first really big show I had ever played on my own. I remember feeling quite vulnerable and naked on stage. It didn’t feel like a good show because I was SO nervous.

If you could score a film for anyone, who would it be any why:
I would love to score a film for Baz Luhrmann and also Wes Anderson. I love their work and the choice of music they use in their films.

Your favourite use of a song in a film:
Baz Luhrmann is amazing at conducting soundtracks for his movies. My absolute favourite is The Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. I discovered so many brilliant songs from that movie. My personal favourite was Kissing You by Des’ree but everything is truly incredible.

Favourite venue to play in and why:
The Nalen in Stockholm, Sweden. I opened for a fantastic Canadian artist named Kathleen Edwards in that room and fell in love with how rich and full the acoustics sounded.

Dream venue to play in and why:
It’s always been a dream of mine to sell out Massey Hall in Toronto. Madison Square Garden is on my bucket list too.

First band t-shirt you ever purchased from a merch table:
Mother mother! A kick ass band from Vancouver.

Band you’d leave your bandmates for:
The Strokes!

Album you want to expose your kin to whilst in the womb:
The Memory of Trees by Enya

If for some reason you lost the ability to make and play music, what would fill that gap:
That’s extremely tough.. I’d work with kids I think in some capacity

What was your last dream about:
My dreams are kinda crazy and disturbing. I wake up sometimes and can’t believe I actually mustered up those thoughts. I once dreamt that Enrique Eglesias and I went to an amusement park together and held hands on a ride. That’s a nice PG dream I had a little while ago.
